Why (Some) Intelligent People Voted For Donald Trump

Not because they wanted to further an agenda of hate. Not because they thought he was a diplomatic genius. Not because they compared him to Saint Peter or Joan of Arc in moral rectitude. Of course not. Some intelligent people voted for Donald Trump because he was a wrecking ball of powerful semi-truths. These semi-truths had the power to forever alter an ancient institution: the American — and global — narrative machine. He didn’t drain the swamp when it comes to governmental bureaucracy — I can’t see someone in a position of power conceding their own power — but he did forever change public consumption of media and our gullibility at large. Donald Trump delivered a significant blow to legacy news that will ultimately lead to their demise unless, somehow, they can find a more balanced approach.
